''Ariosoma coquettei'' is an eel in the family Congridae (conger/garden eels).〔(''Ariosoma coquettei'' ) at www.fishbase.org.〕 It was described by David G. Smith and Robert H. Kanazawa in 1977.〔Smith, D. G. and R. H. Kanazawa, 1977 (4036 ) (''Eight new species and a new genus of congrid eels from the western north Atlantic with redescriptions of Ariosoma analis, Hildebrandia guppyi, and Rhechias vicinalis.'' ) Bulletin of Marine Science v. 27 (no. 3): 530-543.〕 It is a tropical, marine eel which is known from the northern coast of South America, in the western central Atlantic Ocean. It is known to dwell at a maximum depth of 75 metres. Males can reach a maximum total length of 28.1 centimetres.〔 The species epithet "''coquettei''" refers to the name of the vessel which collected the first specimens of the eel.〔 ==References==
